Eighteen years old when the Clone Wars began, she found herself on the front lines, serving as a healer for injured clone troopers and Jedi Knights. Her first solo assignment saw her assigned to the planet Drongar. This Outer Rim planet was a priority for the Republic and Separatists, as it was the only source of the miracle drug bota. The planet’s harsh conditions prevented aerial combat and limited engagements to small arms and slugthrowers, increasing the severity of clone injuries Barris treated. In the chaos, Barriss accidentally injected herself with bota, opening powerful new connections to the Force. This discovery promised great potential, but Barris resisted, knowing it could lead to the dark side. This expanded connection to the Force likely played a significant role in Barriss’s decision to turn on the Jedi and bomb the temple on Coruscant.
